My career journey has led me through the French-dominated western Switzerland, to my native Valais Mountains, via Mediterranean Tessin, and, some time ago now, to Bern.
In line with the motto “Bärn i ha Di eifach gäm” (“Bern, I simply love you”), I can’t wait to welcome you to the Goldener Schlüssel Hotel.
Our Team is looking forward to your visit.
P.S. Don’t be surprised how well the City of Bern and Valais work together.
Hotel Restaurant Goldener Schlüssel Bern
Since 1508 the capital’s oldest inn, not far from the famous Zytglogge Tower, has been welcoming people from all over the world. At that time the Rathausgasse was a busy and varied hectic trading street, bustling with horses and carts. People travelled to Bern from near and afar, with the guests including many important tradesmen, scholars and landowners. The medieval charm and the countless meetings between people across 5 centuries still lends the inn its unique spirit today.
In 2008 the historic Goldener Schlüssel Hotel and Restaurant was completely renovated. With great care and plenty of love the original structures across all five floors were restored. As was fitting for a monument of world cultural heritage, the old layouts were retained and the original beam constructions reinforced and made visible once more. With the high-quality parquet floors and colourful glass washrooms, the bedrooms received a tasteful updating - and so adds to the cosy atmosphere with a futuristic note.
Change in Management
From 1983 - 2018 the hotel was run successfully by Marianne and Jost Troxler. Since June 2018 the Hotel Goldener Schlüssel Bern has been in the hands of Hotel Goldener Schlüssel Bern AG.
And so the story continues and we are looking forward to many further unforgettable hours in the Hotel Restaurant Goldener Schlüssel Bern.
Bern Old Town
The Old Town, designated a world cultural heritage site by UNESCO, offers plenty of meeting points: The Münster (cathedral), the Zytglogge Tower, the Einstein House, the Bärengraben (Bear Pit), or the beautiful Aare river, can still be reached within just a few minutes on foot. The Old Town’s famous arcades, 6 km in length, are the longest covered arcades in Europe. Today you will find many windows of speciality shops, boutiques, galleries, and curiosity shops to rummage through and shop in here. Bern also offers many relaxing green spaces, countless cultural sights, and cafes for you to simply relax and pass the time in. Perfect for capping off a stressful business day or for relaxing after a sightseeing tour.
